Born in Hamburg, Chris has been visiting Scotland continuously for 33 years. He travelled to Orkney for the first time in 2002 and has been living on Orkney Mainland since 2021.

He and his partner Stephan Runge have been running their own small bed and breakfast (BnB) called ‘Orkney Bed & Whisky’ since 2022.

In addition, they have been jointly organising the leading spirits fair in northern Germany, HANSE SPIRIT, in Hamburg since 2011. 

Chris's grandmother Ilse always said, ‘We can save money on everything, but never on good food and drink.’ So Chris learned to cook and bake from her at the tender age of 5. The foundation was laid and has been a part of his life ever since.

Chris is a calm and level-headed driver and looks forward to introducing you to his new home and its culinary delights.

He has been a brand ambassador for the SMWS Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Wemyss Vintage Malts, Dewars Whisky, Schlumberger and several other brands and companies. He attended the Springbank Whisky School in 2014 and was a judge at the ISW, the Meininger International Spirits Award and worked in 2024 as a Seasonal Host for the Scapa Distillery.
